HE IS NOT HERE

He is not here in the cold damp ground,

Away from the friends and home,

He is not here though here is the place

Where we left him all alone.

He is not here for his soul took wings,

And soared to heights unfurled,

To that blessed eternal home above,

Reserved for God's own pearls.

He is not here:  That Heavenly choir

Boasts one more voice to sing,

O grave where is thy victory?

O death where is thy sting?

He is not here:  To grief I say

Don't haunt me, take your leave,

The arms of Jesus hold him safe,

Oh, glorious thought!  Sweet peace!

He is not here for he is there,

Happier he could not be,

Basking in the sunshine of God's love,

For all eternity!

And doeth all things well.

Peaceful be your sleep, dear husband,

For your suffering here is past,

The clock of life is wound but once and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, and toil with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow for the clock may be still.

We the family wish to thank our many neighbors and friends for their untiring efforts during the illness and death of our beloved husband and father, for the many words of sympathy and the many beautiful floral offerings.

 (signed) Mrs. Fitzgerald and children

We have lost our dear father, we have lost our dear father.

He has bid us all adieu; he has gone to live in Heaven

And his form is lost to view.

Oh that dear one, how we loved him,

Oh how hard to give him up,

But and angel came down for him and removed him from our flock.

Earth has lost its look of gladness,

Heaven seems to us more than height

Since the spirit of our loved one took its happy homeward flight.

Farewell, till in some happy place

We shall behold thy face again.

Tis our’s to miss thee all our years and tender memories of thee keep,

Thine in the Lord to rest for so He giveth his beloved sleep.

So live, that when the summons comes to join the innumerable caravan, which moves to that mysterious realm, where each shall take his chamber in the silent halls of death. Thou go not like the quarry slave at night, scourged to his dungeon, but sustained and soothed. Does an unfaltering trust approach thy grace, like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.
