Locust Grove

Locust Grove
This little one - room schoolhouse with an outhouse was built in the country between the townships of Iola and Edgewood, IL.
Years later it was moved to Larkinsburg Township where it was put together with two other small schools and renamed Larkinsburg. The original Larkinsburg school no longer exists

Photo of former Paine School (taken in 1995), which was located northeast of Xenia on property donated by Samuel Paine. According to record books, George W. Fuller paid $800 to build the school, and Samuel Paine paid $58.61 for furnishing tools and building desks. Some of the early directors included Samuel Paine, Levi Onstott, George Ramsey, John Jarvis, Jacob David, James Clark, Joseph Cope, J.H. Wells and William Dyer.
