Norma Rae Tharaldsen, 78, of Evanston died Nov. 12 at the Wagner Health Care Center in Evanston. Ms. Tharaldsen was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Chicago. She was a missionary and nurse for the Evangelical Alliance Mission of Carol Stream and served for many years in India. Survivors include a sister, Pauline (Arnold) Christiansen of Gladstone, Mich.; an aunt; three nieces and nephews; and eight grand-nieces and nephews. A memorial serviced was held Nov. 17 at Donnellan Family Funeral Home in Skokie. Interment was private at Washington Island, Wis. THIES - Adolph Thies,a retired farmer of Hanover township, and veteran of the civil war, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Florence Volpp, 121 south liberty st. at 6:50sunday morning at the age of 76. Born in Hanover, Germany, august 12,1844. He came to this country when in infancy and lived on a farm near palatine. In 1861 he enlisted in the army for service in the civil war in which he served for four years with the 52nd infantry, company g. He retired from active farm life more than ten years ago. A prominent member of the First Evangelical church he was a member of the Men's League and  active in other church affairs. He belonged to the G.A.R. post No. 49. His wife proceeded him in death 13 years ago. Eight children survive him: Mrs. may remington of Bowbells, ND; Samuel of Hanover; William, Mrs. Ellen Bloemke, Mrs. Amanda Brown, Mrs. Martha Johnson, Mrs. Florence Volpp and Miss Emma Thies. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1;45 at Norris chapel and at 2 at the Evangelical church, Rev F.F. Jordan officiating. THOMPSON, WILLIAM HALE ("BIG BILL") - Three time Mayor of Chicago, died March 19, 1944. He was born in Boston, May 14, 1869, and taken to Chicago when he was 9. He entered civic politics in 1900, being elected Alderman. He was elected Mayor on April 6, 1915, reelected in 1919, and again elected in 1927. It was at about this time that he made the fight on English text books, and threatened to "punch King of England on the snoot," if he visited Chicago. About that time, Thompson organized the American First Foundation.

TINNEY, George W. -- of 619 N. Dearborn street, died on Sat. at the Durand Hospital at the age of 42. He reported scores of famous criminal cases in Chicago Courts.

Mrs. Turner was born Jan. 8, 1918 in Chicago. She was retired from Fuller Brush Company serving Chicago Heights, Steger and Crete.
