CUMBERLAND COUNTY, ILLINOIS
BRIGHT CEMETERY
Sumpter Township
Located
outside of Greenup,
off of
Route
121 and I-70. this cemetery has the only
Cumberland
County
resident that fought in the Revolutionary War, however his marker has
been
removed to another cemetery for safe keeping.
It is located on what was once the old Bright farm, and is overgrown
with weeds, and trees, and has not been an active cemetery for many
years. It was once a fairly large cemetery, but many
of the stones are buried, have fallen over and have broken off.
