OFFER TO DO LOOKUPS

In sorting Greenup History and my Genealogy  papers  (mixed up and everywhere)  I found a long misplaced record.  Had heard my Grandfather had a brother he lost contact with.  Found the name in a History of 123rd Infantry, Civil War...1862-1865  has all of Cumberland Co. plus many more...residences from Peoria/Springfield, Indianapolis, Ky, etc. tells mustering in,  out,  if killed in battle and where and lists Companys A thru G.  If someone is looking for a lost relative that could have died in the Civil War, I will be glad to look for their name.
What I have is a history that contains the name of every alumni of Greenup, Toledo and Neoga schools from 1890 to 1949.  I will be glad to look up in my book if anyone needs help.

Hello,
I started tracing my heritage after I retired & went through tons of papers saved by my Great-aunt. I've attached an image of my 2nd Great-grandfather obit; when I checked the Brush Creek cemetery records, he wasn't listed. Please feel free to add this information if possible. I have so much more to find such as information on his wife Rachel Bartlett. It's interesting that their daughter Margaret married my great-grandfather John Cross; is this the same Margaret Cross of the "Margaret Cross Norton Building"?
Thank you, Veronica Morsey  (snowbabe1  at  earthlink dot net)

I have extensive researching on the Clem and Prentice families from Cumberland Co.  Willing to share info with anyone knowing burial location of Geo. Washington Clem and other sons.  Have located David A. Clem's grave but no one else.  This was a large family with many sons and much land.

I am searching for any information on Aaron Merzi and Sarah (Jones) Phillips, who moved to the area after 1870.  They are buried in the Washington Cemetery, Crooked Creek Twnshp. Aaron was born in 1837 and died in 1919.  Sarah was born in 1840 and died in 1913.  There are also  several of their children and their spouses buried there.  I am mainly looking for other relatives who are doing reseach and could possibly help me find where Aaron and Sarah's parents are buried.

I would like to be added to this list please. My name is Jodi Neely, email is (Jodi361  at  sbcglobal dot net.) Anyone researching these families please contact me, Matthews, Phipps/Philips, Furry, Owings.
I am researching the Matthews family in Cumberland Co. IL. Calvin Matthews lived there in 1860 as did his two married sons Madison and John. Also a brother of Calvin's lived in Cumberland Co. in 1860, his name was Alfred. I have researched this family back to the 1600s and would love to share information with other researchers.
John Matthews was my gt gt grandfather and he married a Sally Jane who is listed as his wife on the 1860 census for Cumberland Co.  I am trying to find Sally's parents and I believe I have narrowed it down to three families that were living in Cumberland Co. in 1860. They are Thomas Phipps or Philips, his wife's name was Eve. I found this family in the 1850, 60 and 70 census for Cumberland Co.
The next family is John Furry, wife Jane, they are found in the 1850 and 1860 census' for Cumberland Co. Their son William is counted in the 1870 census.
The next family is Jeptha Owings, wife Cynthia. they are in the 1850 and 1860 census' for Cumberland Co.
Thanks for your help and for posting all the census records on your web site.
Jodi

I am researching family names of MAPLES, AREHART, ADAM, McDermott, and related relatives from Cumberland, Coles,Clark and Jasper county. My family arrived in that area in the 1830's  (1838) WILLIAM & MARY MAPLES came from North Carolina through Indiana to Clark county. My GG Grandfather and GG Grandmother Marmaduke and Annie Maples are buried in Drummond Cemetery near Toledo. I put a headstone at their gravesite 2 years ago at the north east side to the cemetery. We had no date of his death to put on the stone. They are buried with a Daughter or Granddaughter? Sarah. I can find no information of Marmaduke's parents death . William was to have ran off with a younger woman in the 1830's according to the History of Clark County. Mary was listed later in census along with some of her children in the 1850 census.

I am searching for an obituary or death information on Alice P. (Foote) Clark. I don't know the date of her death - that is what I am trying to find out. I know she was born in December 1883 in IL. In the 1900 Census she was living with her parents, Grandison and Mary (Balch) Foote in Pleasant Grove Township, Coles Co. I know she was married in October 1905 to Lewis B. Clark. I know a daughter was born to them - Hollis - on Sept. 25, 1906 in Bradbury. Then by the 1910 Census, Alice had died because it says Lewis was widowed and living with his parents Willis and Nora Clark, along with his 3 year old daughter Hollis and his sister and brothers in Cottonwood, Cumberland Co. The census date was April 23rd, 1910. So she died sometime between Sept. 25, 1906 and April 23rd 1910, probably in Cumberland or Coles Co.
I just found out from a relative that Alice Foote Clark is buried in Shiloh Cemetery in Coles County and she had a transcription from the tombstone that said she died on April 28, 1908. She believes Alice died in Cumberland County but not sure. If anyone can confirm this please email
Thanks for any help from anyone. I am researching Foote's and Clark's and will gladly share any information I have. Thanks! Diane Wortman -  dianew  at  wortmanprinting dot com

I am looking for infomation about my Grandfather's family.
His name was Roscoe Thomas Mitchell, he married Clara Greeson, they had one daughtor(my mother) Lorraine (Mitchell) Sitton. His father was William Mitchell and his mother was Mary (Sherrick) Mitchell. I never knew him or his family, he died from TB when my mother was only 5or 6 years old. If anyone has any information about them I would be very appreciative. I live in Texas and so it is not easy to come to Greenup and search for graves or papers.

Thanks, Anita  Schroeder angeorge  at  awesomenet dot net

I'm researching the Glasener family history.  So far, I have my grandfather, James Harvey Glasener, and his sister, Lola Glasener Ray.  (JHG married twice.  His first wife died.  He then married my grandmother, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jay.  They lived in and around Jewett, Illinois.  My grandparents moved to Galion, Ohio in 1898.)  I've been told my grandfather's father was Francis Marion Glasener - mother, Sarah Stainbrook -- but their names, when brought up on Ancestrydot com, do not have either James or Lola listed as their children.  Aunt Lola moved to Casey, IL, and she died in the 1960s or early 1970s.  I'd appreciate any help in learning more about my great-grandparents, and I'd be happy to share the information I presently have.  Thanks very much.

My parents were Russell Glasener (1911-1984) and Pearl Aline Taylor (1912-1998).

I am looking for:
TOWNSEND, YOUNG, SWING, RITTER

If anybody has anything on the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth YOUNG; named:

Melcenie E. (aka Melsena, Melsina, Mellanie, Elsena; reportedly born in Stark County, Ohio, August 13, 1839.); who apparently married a man named SWING (maybe from either North Carolina or Virginia) in the 1870s, and had two children, John L. (b. abt. 1874) and Ada Mary (b. abt 1876).

She reportedly then married a man name John Leiter RITTER on April 3, 1879.  She reportedly died on July 26, 1907, and he died in Hazel Dell, Illinois, on April 27, 1912.

I would like to know:
1) Where was she for the 1870 census?
2) Who is this man named SWING?
3) When did she and John Ritter die (confirm the dates above if I can)?
4) Where were they buried?

Her son John married a Margaret (née ?????; from Wisconsin) and they moved to Madison County, Montana.

Her daughter Ada married Franklin Emerson TOWNSEND (son of Burrett Leroy and Mary Ellen [née BIGGS]) and they moved first to Madison County, Montana, then on to Bonner County, Idaho, where they are
buried.

Thanks for any and all leads. Don  at   specks dot papa  at  gmail dot com
I am searching for infomation on the Brewer family in Cumberland County around 186-1880.  One of my ancestors, Robert Brewer, is listed there in the 1870 census.
I do not find him after the 1870 census, so I am assuming he may have died there.
I believe he is related to the others Brewer's who were there at that time as some of  them also came from North Carolina.  he may have been a brother or a cousin.  Anyone having info on this family-please contact me at jfrickandfrck-at-sbcglobal.net. Phyllis

I am trying to find further information on the following, all of whom lived in Greenup, Cumberland, Illinois.
Willliam H. Benson was my great grandfather
James Adrian “Ada” Benson was my grandfather, married to Minnie (Stewart) Benson
Thanks.
