Mrs. FALCHER died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs.

SERVICES SET FOR SEYMOUR H. FARTHING
Services for Seymour H. FARTHING, 66, of Rt. 2, Mulkeytown, will be at 2 p.m.
Friday in Gilbert Funeral Home, Christopher, with the Rev. Donald WRIGHT and
Howard RENTFRO officiating. Mr. FARTHING died at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Herrin Hospital.
A retired coal miner, he was last employed at Old Ben Coal Corp. No. 11 mine.
Born Feb. 18, 1904, in Christopher, he was the son of Steve and Mary BIBY
FARTHING. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Minor, near Christopher.
Surviving are his wife, the former Emma CULLEY; daughters, Mrs. Billie JEAN NEAL
of Paducah, Ky., and Mrs. Mary Joann REVELLE of Energy; a sister, Mrs. Lenna
RENTFRO of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren and an aunt, Mrs. Nora TROUTT of
East St. Louis. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery, Christopher.

Chastity Field, 22, died on Aug. 26, 1999 in Union Hospital, West Frankfort.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Aug. 29, in the Parker-Reedy Funeral
Home with the Rev. Joe Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Tower Heights
Cemetery. Visitation is after 12 on Sunday until time of service at the funeral
home. Chastity was born on Aug. 31, 1976 in West Frankfort the daughter of Paul
David Field and Lana Reed. Survivors include a son, Nathan Scott Field; mother,
Lana Garland of West Frankfort; father, Paul David Field of Salem, Oregon; two
sisters, Brandy and Athena Garland, both of West Frankfort; maternal grandfather,
Bill Reed of Benton; maternal grandmother, Clara Shawmeker of Buckner; paternal
grandmother, Neva Walker of Elgin, Oregon; six aunts, Vicky Raymond and Barbara
Dunston, both of West Frankfort, Marlene Barnfield and Rebecca Stubblefield, both
of Jacksonville, Fla, Billie Newberry of Benton, Beverly Smith of Mt. Vernon. She
was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Clifford Field.
FISHER, ALLIE
FISHER, Allie, 82, a former Macedonia resident, died Jan. 15, 1972 at
Lawrenceville Memorial Hospital. Her home was in the United Methodist
Village at Lawrenceville, A member of the Macedonia Church, she was the
widow of Pender FISHER. She is survived by two sons, Bill FISHER of
Macedonia and Rev. Glenn FISHER of Bridgeport, a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn
HUTCHCRAFT of Macedonia, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren
and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth DARNELL, Mrs. Rugy MINTON and Mrs. Cline
SNEED, all of Lawrenceville. She was preceded in death by five
sisters. Funeral services at Macedonia Methodist Church, Rev. Ernest
DYCUS and Rev. Mary ERVIN officiating. Interment in Macedonia

BENTON
Ben R. FISHER, 92, died at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 1999, at Severins
Nursing Home in Benton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Morton &
Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Roger ELLSWORTH
officiating. Burial will be in the Brady Cemetery at Akin. Friends may
call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. FISHER was born on Aug. 26, 1906, in Macedonia, to Albert J. and
Nora (SUMMERS) FISHER. On July 16, 1932, he married Cora (WIGGINS)
FISHER. She survives.
He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Cora of Benton, two sons, Richard FISHER
and wife Nellie of Rock Falls, Roland FISHER and wife Betty of
Christopher; two daughters, Phyllis HARRIS and husband Gitaw (as
written) of Pikesville, Ky.; Alice SHANKS and husband Michael of
Benton; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Austin FISHER, of Granite City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Curtis FISHER,
three brothers, Logan, William and Walter, and by four sisters, Irene,
Virginia, Mary and Sophuie.

FISHER, Carmon, 56, of Route 1, Macedonia, died July 3, 1978, at 4:08
p.m. at Franklin Hospital. Mrs. FISHER was born in Macedonia on Dec.
17, 1921, the daughter of Lon and Nora GIBBS MILLER. She was married to
the Rev. Glenn FISHER on Aug. 2, 1944 in Nashville. A member of the
Macedonia United Methodist Church, she assisted her husband in ministry
to the following Southern Illinois United Methodist churches; the First
United Methodist Church, Bible Grove, the United Methodist Churches,
Elkville and Sunfield; the First United Methodist Church, Eldorado; the
First United Methodist Church, East St. Louis; the United Methodist
Churches, Shattuc and Odin; the First United Methodist Church, St. Elmo;
the United Methodist Churches, Bridgeport and Petrolia; the United
Methodist Church, Giardeau; the United Methodist Church, Kansas
Prairies; and the United Methodist Church, Odell. In addition to her
husband, she is survived by two brothers, Marn MILLER, Blue Island, Harm
MILLER, Peotone; two sisters, Nadine CAMPBELL, Decatur, Jo DAWSON,
Alsip, and one aunt, Maggie SULLIVAN, Macedonia. Funeral services at
Johnson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, Rev. Paul R. BROWN officiating,
assisted by Rev. Bruce RUSHING and Rev. Bruce DAWSON. Interment in
Macedonia Cemetery.
FISHER, GLEN N.
FISHER, Rev. Glen N., 58, Macedonia, died at 7:08 p.m. Oct. 25, 1982 at
Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansbor. A retired Methodist minister,
Mr. Fisher was born July 11, 1924, the son of the late Pender and Allie
PHILLIPS FISHER. He was married to the former Carmon MILLER, who
preceded him in death. Survivors include one brother, Bill FISHER and
one sister, Mrs. Kathryn HUTCHCRAFT, both of Macedonia. Funeral
services at the Macedonia Methodist Church, Rev. Paul Vise and Rev.

FISHER, HENRY C
Henry C Fisher, 80, died at his home near Frisco Wednesday evening after a long
illness He is survived by two foster sons, Joe and Herman Shirley of Benton.
Funeral Services will be held Friday afternoon at Frisco. The Mitchell Funeral
Home has charge of the body.

Henry C Fisher, 80 year old Northern Township farmer, died Wednesday evening at
his home in Frisco. His wife Laura Fisher, preceded him in death several years
ago. He is survived by two nephews, Herman and Joe Shirley, who had made their
home with him since babyhood. He also leaves one brother, Thomas Fisher, of
Moore's Prairie, Jefferson County, Illinois. Burial services will take place at
the Thurmond Cemetery Friday afternoon.
FISHER, JAMES DOUGLAS
Mr. James Douglas Fisher, son of James and Sarilda Fisher was born in Moore's
Prairie township, Jefferson county, December 25, 1862 died February 18, 1935,
age 72 years, one month and 24 days. J D Fisher was married to Miss Allice Taylor,
daughter of James and Emaline Tucker, September 1, 1881. To this union eight
children were born, Cora, Jessie and Minnie all three deceased. Cora and Jessie
living to become married women before death. Hattie Bats of Ewing, Frank of
Benton, Elzie of Alton, Lon of Bonnie, and Vernie at home with her mother. Also
leaves 22 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
J D Fisher professed religion in 1893 and was baptized and joined the church at
old Birkhead School house, and remaining a member as long as the church remained.
When the building was removed he never moved his membership else where. He told
his son-in-law Thomas Duncan of Missouri a few months past that he was ready to
die at any time. J D Fisher having worked in the store for Mr. M A Webb of Frisco,
afterwards ran a general store for himself which gave him a chance to meet a great
many people and later having been elected highway commissioner, and supervisor of
Moore's Prairie township enlarged his acquaintance to a large number of friends
which once gained always remained.
No kinder husband, father or neighbor has lived in this neighborhood.

FISHER, Pender W., 82, Macedonia, died at 5 a.m. Aug. 4, 1968 in the
Methodist Home in Lawrenceville, He was a retired farmer. Mr. FISHER,
who was born in Franklin county (Feb. 2, 1886), was the son of William
and Katherine JOHNSON FISHER. He was a member of the church where
services will be conducted. His wife, Mrs. Allie PHILLIPS FISHER,
survives. Other survivors; a daugher, Mrs. Kathryn HUTCHCRAFT of
Macedonia; two sons, William FISHER of Macedonia and the Rev. Glenn
FISHER of St. Elmo; one sister, Mrs. Ada VISE of Lawrenceville; three
grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral servies at the Macedonia
Methoidst Church. Interment in Macedonia Cemetery.
FITZGERRELL, GRETA
Greta Fitzgerrell 81 of Ina died 12-22-1985 in Life Care in Benton She was
affiliated with the Spring Garden Community Church, First Church of Nazrene of
Benton and Bonnie Holliness Camp. Born in jefferson co on May 11, 1904 to Bill
and Maude (Riggs) Jones, She married Harl Ray Fitzgerrell 12-24-1920 in Mt.
Vernon and he died 12-6-1959. Survived by a daughter, Sirley (Calvin) Williams
of Ina, grandchildren,m Michael Williams of Ina, Andy Williams (Denise) Williams
of Bonnie, Alan Williams of Champaign, grandchildren, Chad and Brandi, brother,
Kenneth Jones of Ina, sisters Helena (Roy) McFadden of DeForest, Wisc. and Norma
(Joe) Glasford of Naples, Fl and sister-in-law Irene Jones of Ina. Preceded in
death by parents, husband,m two sisters and two brothers Services at Johnston
funeral Home in Ina and burial in Kirk Cemetery north of Ina.
FLAHERTY, WILFRED E.

Wilfred E. Flaherty, 84, died at 10:43 p.m., July 30, 1999 at Herrin Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Gilbert Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery in Buckner. Visitation will be from 2 p.m.
until the time of service at the funeral home. Mr. Flaherty was born March 27, 1915
in Wapella, Ill., the son of James T. and Kathryn Byrns Flaherty. He married
Marjorie Hill who died May 18, 1998. Mr. Flaherty was a federal grain inspector.
He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Flaherty is survived by daughter, Beverly Rolla,
Christopher and Agnes Sylvia Becker, Elmhurst, six grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and one
sister.

Gaylord W. Fox, 90, died on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999 in Franklin Hospital. Services
will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. in the Gilbert Funeral Home
with the Rev. Jerry Aken officiating. Burial will be in the Mulkeytown Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Friday until time of service. Mr. Fox was born on
March 17, 1909 in Staunton, Ind., the son of William and Bessie (Cook) Fox. He
was married to Ruth (Stone) Fox. She preceded him in death. He was a retired coal
miner. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Parker, Mulkeytown, Ruth Szymanski
of Douglasville, Ga.,; three sons, Gaylord L. Fox, Liberty, Mo., Robert G. Fox,

Service Set Thursday For Zeigler Woman
Mrs. Margaret FOX, 53, of 603 Maple St., Zeigler, died of cancer at 11 p.m.
Monday in Herrin Hospital, where she had been a patient three weeks. She was born
Aug. 19, 1908, in Murphysboro, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McPHERSON.
She was a member of the Zeigler First Methodist Church. Mrs. FOX was employed by
the West Frankfort Apparel Co. She leaves her husband, Archie E., daughters, Mrs.
Paul PEARSON of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Gene WALL of West Frankfort, Mrs. John HOMAN
Jr., of Hurst; brother, Martin McPHERSON of Zeigler; sister, Evelyn McPHERSON of
St. Louis; and nine grandchildren. A son, Bob, died in 1955. Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zeigler First Methodist Church. The Rev. M. W.
FRIESNER will officiate. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Friends may call
after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Vantrease Funeral Home, Zeigler.

FRAILEY, FRANCES R.
St. Louis, Missouri
Frances R. Frailey, 71, a former Benton resident, died at 8:45 a.m. on Friday,
July 2, 1999, in the Franklin Skilled Care Nursing Unit, Benton. Graveside services
will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, with
the Rev. Dale Carson officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends should go
directly to the cemetery. Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, is in charge of
arrangements. Miss Frailey was born on Feb. 13, 1928, in Benton, the daughter of
Edward Cleveland and Libbie (Kirk) Frailey. She attended business school in St.
Louis and spent her entire adult life there working in secretarial and managerial
positions. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Benton. Survivors include
one brother, Kenneth Frailey and wife Betty of Benton; one sister, Dorothy F. Davis of
Carbondale; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a
brother, Dewey Frailey; three sisters, Mary Evelyn Booth, Joan Hurley, and Maxine
Orrick, and thirteen nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the
First Christian Church, Benton, and will be accepted at the cemetery.

Mrs. Agnes Freeman, 59, of Benton route 3, died unexpectedly Thursday at Franklin
Hospital. Mrs Freeman was a lifelong resident of Franklin County, and a member of
the Rend City Baptist church. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Freeman and
four children: Mrs Rosemary Fitzpatrick, Benton; Mrs Helen Olczak, Florissant, Mo;
Mrs Charlene Semeneck, Woodridge, and David Freeman, Joliet. She also leaves 11
grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a brother and two sisters: William Russell
and Mrs Helen Wood, both of Benton, and Mrs Margaret Henley, Mulkeytown. Funeral
services will be Saturday at 2 pm at the Rend City Baptist Church, with the Reverend
James Smoot officiating. Interment will be in Mt Pleasant cem, under the direction of
the Mitchell Funeral Home of Benton. The body will lie in state at the funeral home

FREEMAN, BERNICE
Mrs berniece Freeman Isom dies at 92.
Mrs Berniece "Granny" Freeman Isom, 92, of Benton, Route 3 died Sunday at Franklin
Hospital after an illness of a week. Mrs. Isom was a resident of Franklin County for
57 years and was a member of Rend Baptist Church. She is survived by six sons: Charlie
Freeman, Benton; Woodrow Freeman, Effingham, George Freeman, Cahokia; Milton Freeman,
Apache Junction, Ariz; Ernest Freeman, Mesa, Ariz, and Richard Freeman, Tonapah, Ariz,
and one daughter, Mrs Anna Pruden, Columbus, OH. She also leaves 23 grandchildren;
several great grandchildren, and four great geat grandchildren. She was preceeded in
death by her first husband, Joy L Freeman; her second husband, Sam Isom; two children,
Earl Leroy Freeman and Jessie Locke and her parents, Henry C and Bertha Draper Wright.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 pm at Hobbs-Johnson funeral Home in Benton.
The Rev Carl Whittington and the Rev Roy Culpepper will officiate. Interment will be
in Mt Pleasant Cem, northwest of Benton. Visitation at the funeral home will be after

FREEMAN, CHARLIE C
Charlie C Freeman, 74, of Benton Route 3, died Sunday, Nov 13, 1983,at the Skilled
Nursing Care Unit of Franklin Hospital. Mr Freeman was a retired truck driver for
Franklin Grain and Supply company. He was well known in the area as a breeder and
trainer of ponies, and appeared with some of his animals in parades throughout the
area. He was a member of Rend City Baptist Church. He was a native of Arkansas,
born January 9, 1909, to Joy Leroy and Berniece Wright Freeman. His wife was Agnes
Russell Freeman, who died in 1972. He is survived by a son, David Freeman, Benton,
and two daughters, Rosemary Fitzpatrick, Benton and Charlene Semeneck, Downers
Grove. He also leaves 13 grand children; eight great grandchildren; a sister,
Ann Pruden, Columbus,Ohio, and four brothers, Ernest Freeman, Mesa, Ariz; George
Freeman, Cahokia,Richard Glenn Freeman, Pittsfield, and Milton Freeman, Apache
Junction, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sons,
Charles and Delbert Freeman; a daughter, Helen Olezak; two brothers, Woodrow and
Earl Freeman, and a sister, Jessie Locks. Funeral services will be Wednesday at
11 a m at Poulson Funeral Home in Benton. The Reverend Roy Culpepper will
officiate. Interment will be in Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral
home will be Tuesday from 6 pm to 9 pm.

FULLER, BYRON
Retired banker Byron FULLER dies
Retired Bank of Zeigler Vice President, Byron H. FULLER,72, of 111 Elm St.,
died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec, 13, 1977, in Herrin Hospital.
At the time of his death, he was treasurer of the Rend Lake Conservancy District,
a trustee in Six-Mile Township, a member of the Greater Egypt Regional Planning
and Development Commission, and on the board of directors of the West Frankfort
Wit and Wisdom Center in West Frankfort.
He served , as Franklin County Treasurer from 1928 to 1932.
Mr. Fuller was born Oct. 13, 1905, in Marion to Melvin and Ethel HENSON FULLER.
He was a graduate in banking and finance from the University of Illinois.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. FULLER was a member of the First Christian Church in Zeigler.
He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Eagles Lodge and the Rotary Club,
all in Zeigler.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn FULLER of Zeigler; a daughter, Byra HUTCHINSON
of Phoenix, Ariz.; three stepsons, Allan PATTON of Zeigler, David PATTON of
Mt. Vernon and Tim PATTON of Woodlawn; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler.
Burial will be in the Zeigler Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after
5 p.m. Thursday. Friends desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer
Society, in lieu of flowers.

FURLOW, HALLIE P.
Funeral services for Hallie Pearl FURLOW, 79, of 501 S. State St., Christopher,
were to be held at 2 p.m. today in the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. The
Rev. McKinley Crabtree was to officiate. Burial was to be in the Harrison Cemetery
in Christopher.
Mrs. FURLOW died at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Franklin Hospital in Benton. She was
born July 5, 1895, in Franklin County to James and Martha YOUNG PINKHAM. She was
a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church. Her husband,Vernon FURLOW, died in 1971.
Survivors are a son, James PINKHAM of Christopher; a sister, Mary Etta CAMPBELL
of McAllen, Tex.; a brother, Alva PINKHAM of Benton; and a grandson, Roger PINKHAM
of Christopher.

funeral home. Mrs. Furlow was born on Dec. 8, 1916, in Christopher, the daughter of
Charles and Nora (Branden) Flatt. She was married to Melvin Furlow who died May 10,
1993. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christ View Christian Church,
Christopher. Survivors include one son, Raymond O. Furlow of Buckner; one daughter,
Thelma Creamer
of San Diego, Cal.; two grandsons, Adam Furlow of Atlanta, Ga. and Michael R. Furlow
of Buckner; one sister, Betty Thomas of Christopher; two brothers, Robert Flatt of
Christopher and Alfred Flatt of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents
and two sisters, Emma Hasting and Lucille Price.
