William Cassel, a leading farmer of this township and county, is
a native of Pennsylvania, where he was born in 1832. He grew to
manhood in that State, followed farmming and learned the trade of a
carpenter. In 1852 he came West, settling in Astoria township,
and shortly afterward purchased land. In 1855 he was united in
with Miss Anna Schisler, who is the mother of 4 children - Sarah J.,
Angeline, Mary and William. Mr. C. is one of those enterprising,
go-ahead farmers who wastes no time in idleness and is to-day a
representative of his class, and owns over 400 acres of valuable land.
