Daniel Dutton, farmer, sec. 35; P. O., Bluff City; was born in
1833, in Brown Co., O.; in 1849 he accompanied his parents, Moses and
Rebecca Dutton, to Illinois, settling in Woodland tp., where the
subject of this sketch grew to manhood; in 1862 he enlisted in Co. H,
85th Ill. Inf., became a participant in many noted battles, as
Perryville, Stone River, Chickamauga, Jonesboro, Kenesaw Mt., Peach
Tree Creek, Buzzard Roost, and many others of less importance;
honorably discharged when the war closed, he returned to his old home
in Fulton Co., where in 1866 he married Mrs. Mary Markley, daughter of
John Reed and relict of Martin Markley; there were born of the marriage
of Mr. and Mrs. Dutton 5 children, - Ettie, Daniel, Rebecca, Wm. and
Charles; the marriage of Mary Reed to Martin Markley was blessed with 7
children: 3 are living, - Sylvester, Marion and Martin. Mr. and Mrs.
Dutton are joint owners of 220 acres of land.
