Nobles C. Grandstaff, was born in Muskingum county, O., in 1836;
became a stock-dealer, and for a considerable time was proprietor of a
meat market at Nelsonville; while residing in Jackson county, O., he
was united in marriage to Miss P. A. Akins, a daughter of Samuel Akins,
of Ohio, by whom he has 6 children, viz: Celia J., Willie, Gant,
Morley, Walter and Emma. Mr. G. was quite extensively engaged as a
stock-buyer and traded a great deal in various States; two years ago he
settled in this township, where he purchased the mill property formerly
owned by Emily Mayhew; since this date Mr. G. has transacted a very
good business.
