Francis M. Grigsby, brickmaker, Cuba, was born near Lewistown,
this county, June 19, 1840. His mother, Dorcas Grigsby, nee Collins,
was a native of Ohio, and his father, William Grigsby, was born in
Kentucky. Francis attended the country schools, and also the seminary
at Lewistown. He has engaged in farming and also in the mercantile
business. In 1861, July 21, he enlisted in Co. F, 8th Ill. Inf., and
participated in all of the battles the noble 8th did save one. He is a
Justice of the Peace. He was married Oct. 3, 1870, to Josephine Davett.
Grace, born Oct. 16, 1873, is their only child. Both he and his wife
belong to the M. E. Church. Mr. G. is an active member in the Order of
United Workmen, and in the I. O. of O. F.
