Louis Hess, farmer, sec. 28; P. O., Astoria. Louis Hess
was born in Germany in 1832. He was but 8 years of age when his
parents landed in America. They settled in Maryland, where Lewis
attained his majority and married Miss Mary Lindon, by whom he has 9
children. Having accumulated property in Maryland Mr. H. disposed
of it in 1867 and came west, locating in Astoria township, where he
first purchased 40 acres of land, and now owns 120 acres.
