Andrew E. McCartney, deceased, was a native of Kentucky. His
father, James McC., was from Virginia. Andrew E. was reared on a farm;
in 1839 he emigrated to Vermont tp. Mrs. McC. is still living. They had
11 children, 9 of whom are yet living: John A., Andrew E. (on the
homestead), Rachel E., Benj. F., Addison P., John H. (married Belle
Underwood), Mattie I. (married Melvin T. Wilson) and Delilah C.
