Jacob Mowery, farmer, sec. 19; P. O., Cuba. Mr. M. is a native
of the grand old Keystone State, having been born there Dec. 28, 1810;
is the son of Peter and Polly (Shover) Mowery. Mr. M. attended school
in the old log school-house in his native State. He landed in this
county in June of 1838. He learned the blacksmithing trade, working 3
years as an apprentice. In 1841 all of his tools were sold by the
Constable to pay a security debt. He has met with success since,
however, and is now the possessor of 600 acres of land. He was married
Dec. 20, 1843. His children number 4; Elizabeth Ellen, America, Mahlon
and Judia Caroline. We give Mr. M.'s portrait.
