Isaac Myers, farmer, sec. 36; P. O., Astoria. Among the
substantial farmers of Astoria township the name of Isaac Myers must
not be overlooked. A native of Pennsylvania, he was born in 1841; at
the age of 18 he was apprenticed to learn the trades of stone-mason and
brick-layer, and for some time taught school. During the war he
enlisted in Uncle Sam's service in the State Militia for some months.
Mr. M. came to Whiteside Co., Ill., where he remained for a time and
then moved to this county. He was united in marriage with Miss Hester,
daughter of John Burgard. Three of the 6 children born to them are
living, - Mary C., Callie and Joseph.
