Oviatt & Robertson, proprietors of the Buckeye Saw-mill,
became established in their present quarters during November of last
year (1878). Their mill was formerly located near Summum. While
transacting a most successful business, furnishing the C., B. & Q.
R. R. alone 5,000 feet of lumber per day, on Oct. 24, 1878, the mill
was destroyed by fire, caused by an explosion, killing one man outright
and wounding several. Messrs. Oviatt & Robertson have
constructed extensive works here, and during last winter shipped 80,000
feet of walnut timber. The mill has a capacity of 5,000 feet daily, and
the firm has proven their enterprise and ability as is evinced by the
success attending them.
