Kinzie Shields, farmer, sec 36; was born in this county May 4,
1844, son of Kinzie and Katie Shields, natives of Indiana; enlisted in
1861 in Co. H, 3d Ill. Cav., served 3 years; was in the battles of
Vicksburg, Perryville, Mission ridge, etc.; in 1863 he re-enlisted in
Co. B, same regiment, and served one year; was on the plains to fight
Indians. Oct. 25, 1867, he married Susan Kingery, who was born in
this county in 1851; their 5 children are Laura, Etta Guy, Hattie V.,
Lucy J. and Hiram. Member of the Christian Church.
