S. W. Sloan, merchant, Marbletown, is a native of Isabel
township, Fulton county. He was born Dec. 13, 1853, and is the eldest
son of Samuel Sloan, an early settler of Fulton county. He is a native
of Fayette county, Ohio, and his parents came West when he was a lad
and first settled in Mason county in 1832, and 12 years later moved to
Fulton county. S. W. received a liberal education and in 1874 was
united in marriage with Miss Effie J. Saffer. They have one child, whom
they have christened Frank. February 17, 1878, Mr. S. embarked in the
mercantile business at Duncan's Mills and June 23, of this year (1879)
moved to Marbletown.
