Aaron Thomas, agriculturist, was born in Ohio, Feb. 22, 1828.
His father, James Thomas, was a native of New Jersey; his mother
Susannah Thomas, was also born in New Jersey, and had 7 children: 6 of
whom are living. Jas. Thomas was 21 years of age when he located in
Ohio, where he followed farming until his removal to Fulton Co. in
1850. Aaron married, in Ohio, Miss Martha B. Leonard, a daughter of
Aaron and Rhoda Leonard, of Ohio. There were born of this marriage 10
children, 6 of whom are living, - Darwin, Albert P., Mary J., Susan E.,
Aaron, Jas. E. In Aug., 1862, Mr. Thomas enlisted in Co. G, 85th Ill.
Inf. Participated in the noted battle of Perryville; honorably
discharged. When the war closed he returned to his old home in Fulton
Co., where he has since resided, owning now 160 acres of land.
