Edward Wampler, farmer, sec. 36; P. O., Astoria. In 1818,
there was born to Philip and Catherine Wampler, nee Royer, in the State
of Maryland, the subject of this sketch, Edward Wampler. He had
attained his tenth year when his parents settled in Ohio, and there he
grew up and married. This event occurred in 1837, and Miss
Elizabeth Stover was the bride. Eleven children have been given
to them. For nearly 20 years he was a resident of Missouri, where
he became a prominent farmer, owning some 1,500 acres of land.
While there his wife died, and in 1875 he was united in marriage with
Mrs. Rebecca Sprinkle. Mrs. W. was born in Pennsylvania and there
married Daniel Sprinkle, who afterwards became a prominent farmer in
this county. Of this marriage 8 children were born, 5 of whom are
living, - Sarah, Henry, Daniel, Levi and Mary. The valuable
property left by Mr. Sprinkle comprises between 500 and 600 acres of
fine land.
