Isaac Henderson, patriarch of the Halifax Hendersons of Cass Township. "Old Ike" as he was known, lived to be at least ninety, born in 1767 in Halifax Co. Virginia, and died in 1860 in Cass Twp.
Isaac was drafted at Hillsborough, Ohio for six month's service in the War of 1812 and he entered the service February 16, 1814. He served as a sergeant in the company commanded by Captain Micah Woods in the 17th Reg. of U.S. Inf. (Collier's Regiment of the Ohio Militia.) He earned $11.00 per month. He received an honorable discharge August 4, 1814 because of a chronic disease in his chest. He was then nearly 45 years old and he was to live at least 46 more years. He is buried in the Henderson cemetery at Sinnett Chapel, without a stone.
