Driving Directions from the
Hamilton/Wayne County line you will head south about 6 miles and
turn left onto Blairsville Road about one mile down the first road you can
turn right on is a gravel road (you will be heading South) , turn onto this
road and about 1 mile down on your left is Cherry Grove Cemetery.
This cemetery was photographed and transcribed in July 2006

The birthday dinner and double wedding at the residence of Mrs. Nancy Myers last Saturday was the grandest social gathering ever held in this part of the country. There was at least 200 guest present and the relatives of Mrs. Myers numbered 87, classified as follows; Eighteen sons, daughters and daughters-in-laws, forty two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Myers was born in Virginia, September 29th, 1803; moved to Warren County Tennessee, 1810, and was married to G. W. Myers at age 19, in 1823 she moved to Hopkins County, Kentucky and in 1846 she came to this county where she resided ever since. she has one sister and two brothers still living, all residence of this county; Mrs. Kroger aged 75, Abram Perry, 71, and Richard Perry, 69. Mrs. Myers was the recipient of quite a number of handsome and valuable presents from her many friends as tokens of the high esteem in which she is held by her neighbors. Just before dinner was announced the Rev. John B. Smith tied the Hymental knot for Lewis Melonbine and Sarah Myers, a grand-daughter and Alexander Lowery and Bashee Perry a niece of Mrs. Myers. The young couples have the best wishes of the entire community for a long life of happiness and prosperity. The guest were entertained with vocal music by Jesse B. Rich and others. Mr. Lowery of Dahlgren, delivered an able discourse last Saturday night at Cherry Grove. Your correspondent was one of the many guest at the birthday dinner. It was one grand affairs of the kind ever given in our neighborhood.

AN OLD CITIZEN GONE
Jemimah Ann Trammel, daughter of Fields and Elizabeth Trammel, was born December 25, 1842; was married to Samuel D. Oneal, January 1, 1865. To this union was three children, Mary J., Will and Joe. Her husband died July 4, 1875. She was then united in marriage to Christopher Jamerson, June 16, 1877. To this union was born three children, Ida Belle, George L. and Milton. She received a good education and taught school. She was converted at the age of about 18 years and joined he Methodist church at Cherry Grove. She later joined the Baptist church at Smith's Chapel, where she was a member until death. She was the last one of 10 children. For some years she has been blind and almost an invalid, yet she always cheerful and never complained. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ida Bolerjack, where she received the best of attention, often saying they were so good to her. Her sickness was of short duration. Yet all was done that loving hands could do, yet God who knows best has taken her home, February 5, 1922, at the ripe age of 79 years, 1 month and 11 days. She leaves to mourn their loss, 4 sons, 1 daughter, 1 step so, Bill Jamerson, 1 step daughter, Mrs. Florence Moore, 30 grandchildren, 6 great grand children and a host of relatives and friends.

Leaves 6 children; Harry Smithpeters of Chicago, Leland Smithpeters of Chicago, Fannie B. French of Dahlgren, Mary Elizabeth Cowley of Mayview, Penn., Grace Smithpeters of Lincoln, & Mrs. Owen Kern of Ziegler. Legacy of Kin 570 no notice of where she was buried!
