The Second Missionary Baptist Church came from a mission which had been meeting for some time in different homes. The mission met Wednesday night, December 28, 1955, for the necessary arrangements of organizing a church. On January 22, 1956, at a called meeting, church officers were elected.
The trustees were Harold Cross, Ross Lisenby, and James Upchurch. Brother Heaty B. Stoltz was the first pastor. There were 14 charter members. Their first building was on North Harris Street in Mcleansboro.
Later they purchased another building on N. Harris street and held services there until they moved to a building on West Cherry Street In Mcleansboro.
The above report was taken from the Hamilton County Sesquicentennial (1971).
The Second Baptist of Mcleansboro closed its doors in 2003.
