Mildred R. Neal
Mildred R. Neal, 89, of McLeansboro died Tuesday, February 15, 2000, at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital.
She was an elementary school teacher for 45 years, having taught at McLeansboro West Side School until her retirement.
She was born on November 15, 1910, in Hamilton County Illinois to James and Myrtle (Daily) Rawls. On June 5, 1976 she married Taylor Neal and he survives. She was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church since 1928 and was active in local civic affairs.
Surviving are her husband, Taylor Neal; a stepson, Fred Neal and wife Luan of Birmingham, Alabama; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren. 2 Sisters; Imogene Myers and husband Allie of McLeansboro, and Elizabeth Honig of Nashville TN.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2000 at Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Sefried and Rev. Gary Davenport officiated. Burial was in the Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Stanley and Joe Douglas Rawls, and one sister, Ruth Jackson.

Parents died in infancy; raised by Uncle Mike Smithpeters in Illinois. Married Martha J. WINDER Mar 9, 1879 she died 1906; 9 children 5 survive; Mrs. Annie Holland of McLeansboro; Mrs. Mike Smithpeters of McLeansboro; Mrs. Ray Cory of Champaign; & Noah Nunley of Carbondale. Interred Cherry Grove.
