GOLDEN WEDDING JUBILEE ENJOYED
Parents of Roy Martin of This City Have Been Married Fifty Years
The fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin of Niota, Iowa, was celebrated Monday by a reunion.
Of the eight children, six were present, A.A. Martin and Mrs. Thomas Cosgrove of Fort Madison; Earl Martin of Nauvoo, Roy Martin of Keokuk, Mrs. Fred Jackson of Carthage, and Mrs. Harry Jones of Niota. The two absent children were C.L. Martin of Quincy and Franke E. Martin of Three Forks, Mont.
The incident of which the event of Monday was celebrative, occurred at Fort Madison March 23, 1854, when Miss Justina Dellenbaugh became the wife of Charles Martin, the bride being form Cleveland, Ohio, and the groom then a Fort Madison young man. Rev. C.P. Taylor of the Presbyterian church of that city, performed the ceremony. Not long after their marriage the couple removed to a farm in Hancock county, Illinois, from which they retired to their present home at Niota some ten years ago. Both enjoy normal health.
