Vera Bishop

Vera M. Bishop, 89, of Elizabethtown, IL died at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Rosiclare Health Care Center.

Mrs. Bishop was a U.S. Navy WAVE (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II.

She was a member of Keeling Hill General Baptist Church, and was a Methodist Sunday school and Bible school teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Bert O. Bishop; three daughters, Sharon Wiesemann of Bloomington, Lauren Weidner of Eaton and Joanie Bishop of Murphysboro; one son, Dr. Donald Bishop of Carbondale; and 14 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and one grandson, Andy Weidner.  Her parents were Howard Morton and Jessie Barber Hay.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2006 at Rosiclare Methodist Church with the Rev. John Kraps and Rev. Chuck DePriest officiating.  Burial with military rites will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Hosick Funeral Home of Rosiclare and after 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2006 at the church.
