Minnie Simpson Hamilton

Mrs. Hamilton was Buried Monday.

A brief funeral service for Mrs. Minnie Simpson Hamilton, Harrisburg, was held Monday afternoon at the Cave-in-Rock Christian Church.  It was conducted by the pastor of the Harrisburg Christian Church where a longer service had been held earlier.  Burial was in the Cave-in-Rock Masonic cemetery where her late husband, Howard Simpson, and a daughter had been buried previously.

Mrs. Hamilton whose age is 77 years, had died early Saturday morning at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simpson, Joliet, Illinois.  Diabetes was the cause of her death.  She had suffered from the disease for a long time.

On Nov. 7 she had a sale and sold off all her property.  That night she went to Joliet with her son, expecting to spend the winter with him and his wife.  It is thought that she over-taxed herself at the time of the sale, for she became worse on Thursday and never rallied.

Mrs. Hamilton was the daughter of the late Frederick and Martha (McDowell) Brookmeyer and was born in Hardin County, but had left Cave-in-Rock many years ago.  Her only near surviving relative is the one son above mentioned.

Among those who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simpson, Joliet, and Mr and Mrs. Gordon Lackey, Mr and Mrs Jimmy Harris and Mrs Hepsie Patton, Shawneetown.
