George Samuel Humphrey George Samuel Humphrey, aged 72, died at the home of his half sister Mrs. Floyd Rose near Cave-in-Rock, Thursday, Feb. 3. He had not been in good health for many years, but had been seriously ill for less than two weeks.
His wife having died several years ago, he made his home with various members of the family and had only recently been brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rose. He is survived by two sons, Orby Humphry, Villa Ridge, IL. and Homer Humphrey of Sikeston, MO. Three daughters, Mrs. Catherine McFall and Mrs. Julie Bilderback, Sikeston, MO; and Mrs. George McDonald of Roxana, Ill., a number of grandchildren, six brothers, Edd, of Sullivan, KY. Harvey, Pasedina, Ca., Herman, Benton, MO., Clarence, Elizabethtown, Barnet, Mullikan, KY., Freeman, East Moline and three sisters: Mrs. Essie Mott of Sturgis, KY., Mrs. Josie Rose, Cave-in-Rock, and Mrs. Lucy Robinson, Kansas City, MO.
The funeral was held at Peters Creek Church, where he was a former member, Rev. M. F. Oxford being in charge. Music was furnished by the Levee Pond Quartet and interment was made in the Peters Creek cemetery.
