Everett Smith

Everett Wendell Smith passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family in Benton, MO. on Monday, February 19, 2007.  He was born on January 27, 1940 to Charles Newell and Freda Irene Smith.

He was a longtime resident of Karbers Ridge, IL. and worked as a fluorspar miner in Hardin County for 28 years.  He was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Benton, MO.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Januska Smith; four children, Michael Smith of Metropolis, IL., Brian Smith and Susan Smith of Harrisburg, IL., Kathy and Trent Agin of Benton, MO., and Erick Smith of Benton, MO.; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Fred Weldon Smith, Loy Oren Smith, and Donald Edward Smith, all of Hardin County.

He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Charles Vernon Smith; and a nephew, Vernon Leon Smith.

Visitation will be a Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 22.  Funeral services will be held at the Unity Baptist Church in Benton, MO. on Friday, February 12, 11 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
