Millard
R. Spivey
Millard
R. Spivey, 81, of Elizabethtown, went to be
with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2005.
He was
retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 40
years.
He
became a Christian at a young age and was a
member of Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church
were he served as Deacon, Sunday school
teacher, and song leader for many years.
Survivors
include his beloved wife of 59 years, Gladys;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and
Doug Winters and Linda and Steve Andrew, all
of Marion; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith
and Nancy Spivey of Elizabethtown; one
brother, Milas Spivey Jr. "Shorty"
and wife Dorothy of Mountain Home, AR.; six
grandchildren, Melissa, Tiffany, Tara, Tim,
Bradley and Adam; and six great-grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, Milas and
Minnie (Aaron) Spivey; one sister, Naomi Ruth
Masten; one half-brother, Bill Henry Riggs;
and one grandson, Scott Aaron Andrew.
He
proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in
New Guinea and the Phillippines.
He was
a member of the Ohio Association of General
Baptist and also served as a school board
member.
He
enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother
Shorty, in Big Creek. In his later
years, he enjoyed tending to his beautiful
flowers. He loved to sing and play his
guitar at church. His greatest joy was
spending time with his family.
Services
were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1 at Cox
Funeral Home, Rosiclare, with Bro. Steve Reed
Jr. and Don Hayes officiating. Burial
was in Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
