Vernon Smith

Services for Charles Vernon Smith, 71, of rural Elizabethtown were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2006 at Hosick Funeral Home in Rosiclare with the Rev. Fred Birch officiating.  Burial was in Watters Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Mary 26, 2006 at his home.

He was a retired fluorspar miner and attended Central Baptist Church.

Surviving are his eife, Linda Lou Ledbetter Smith; two sons, Ricky Don Smith and Charles Dwayne Smith, both of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Debra Gail Smith of West Frankfort and Terri Lynn Boner of Creal Springs; four brothers, Weldon Smith and Donald E. Smith, both of Elizabethtown, Wendell Smith of Benton, MO and Loy Smith of Rosiclare; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Leon Smith.  His parents were Charles Newell Smith and Freda Irene Ginger Smith.
