Alice Rutherford Truman
Mary
Alice Rutherford Truman, 90, of Augusta, died
Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Battle Creek Health
System.
She
was born in Elizabethtown, Illinois on
December 22, 1914 the daughter of Commodore
and Rachel (Palmer) Belt.
Mary
Alice worked as a clerk at the Battle Creek
Veterans Administration Medical Center for
more than 20 years, retiring in 1967.
She
married James W. Truman in 1966; he preceded
her in death in 1981.
Mary
Alice is survived by two sons, Donald E.
(Nancy) Rutherford and Marion W. (Marilyn)
Rutherford, both of Galesburg; seven
grandchildren, Dana, David, Mary, Amy, Stacey,
Bradley and Karen; 11 great-grandchildren; one
sister, Georgia Lee Sisco; a special friend
Betsy Solami and many loving nieces and
nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her children's
father, Adrian Rutherford and one brother,
John M. Belt.
Mary
Alice was a member of the United Methodist
Women for 30 years and attended Augusta
Fellowship United Methodist Church.
She
enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, flowers
and reading.
At the
request of the family, friends may call after
10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2005 at the
Farley-Estes & Dowdle Augusta Chapel where
services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
James Carey, officiating.
Interment
will follow at Augusta Cemetery.
In
lieu of flowers, donations to the Augusta
Fellowship United Methodist Church would be
appreciated.
