Leonard
E. Winters, 85, of Junction, died 6:40 a.m.
Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Carrier Mills
Nursing Home.
Services
were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28,
2006, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality
with the Rev. Arthur Austin Jr.
officiating. Burial was in Elmwood
Cemetery in Gallatin County with military
rites.
He was
born September 25, 1920, in Cave In Rock to
the late Cecil and Addie (Milligan)
Winters. On October 19, 1941, he married
the former Mary Kathleen Ledbetter, who
survives in Junction.
He was
a retired mechanic for Minerva Oil
Company. He was a member of Pisgah
General Baptist Church in Junction, VFW Saline
Post No. 3478 in Eldorado and a 50 year member
of Cave In Rock Masonic Lodge No. 444.
He served in the Army in World War II.
In
addition to his wife, he is survived by a
daughter, Linda (Don) Stuby of Harrisburg; a
son, Larry (Diana) Winters of Harrisburg; a
sister, Florence McDowell of Calvert City,
KY.; a step-sister, Linda Mobley of Karbers
Ridge; three brothers, Billy (Jean) Winters of
Eldorado, Bob Winters of Eldorado and Laverne
"Bub" (Peggy) Winters of
Elizabethtown; two step-brothers, Ralph
(Sally) Barnes of Elizabethtown and Donnie
Barnes of Cave In Rock; five grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a sister, Vesta Thorne.
Memorial
donations may be made to Hospice of Southern
Illinois.
