Terre Haute: The meeting at the Baptist Church results in the conversion of 25 or 30 souls, the meeting was commenced by Elder Taylor who engaged the services of Rev. J. Banking, a faithful minister. [La Harper, January 14, 1876 - Sub by Suzanne Miller]
Terre Haute - April 7, 1876
- Quite an enthusiastic RR meeting was held here last Friday. Mr. Chamberlain, general manager of the K. G. & C. Railroad was in attendance and addressed the meeting.
- Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Reynolds have been visiting friends in this place for some time past; their home is Nebraska.
- Mr. Warner Paul and Mr. Art Kirby, who formerly resided near here, were in town last week. They now live in Western Iowa. [La Harper, April 7, 1876 - Sub by Suzanne Miller]
Lomax -- Moonlight walks and croquet seem to be chief amusement among young people. Residence of Mrs. Harvey was the place selected for last Saturday evening enjoyment where in illuminated grounds, they continued the festivities until 10 p.m. Present were: Misses E. McClure, Mary Kirby, Alice Crownover, Ida Harvey; Messrs: J. L. Brunk, J. Kimbrough, A. W. Logan, George and C. B. Harvey. [La Harper, June 9, 1876 - Sub by Suzanne Miller]

- Don't fail to visit Addie Berkshire's millinery store.
- Too much selling on Sunday to speak well for a place. We wish such things could be stopped.

Terre Haute - May 29, 1900
- Mel Paul shelled his corn this week.
- The Baptist Aid society cleaned their parsonage Wednesday ready for their new pastor.
- Billy Green's have treated their house to a new coat of paint.
- Oliver Lovitt of Russell, Iowa is visiting relatives and friends of our community.

Terre Haute - June 5, 1900
- Misses Mable and Vivian Edmunds are visiting an uncle in Iowa.
- Rev. Davis and wife spent a day in our vicinity this week. He is the Christian preacher at Bedford.
- Mrs. Vide Moore has been treating her house to a coat of paint which adds much to the looks of her place.
- Miss Marie Justice of New Castle, Pa. came Friday for a visit with her Aunt, Mrs. Wm. Bryan.

Terre Haute - June 26, 1900
- Little Clarence Gittings has gone to Clarinda, Iowa for an extended visit with his grandparents.
- The Jessamine Circle served ice cream Saturday evening at the home of Ralph Painter. Money goes towards new sidewalks in the village.

Terre Haute, July 10, 1900
- A good many of our people are riding in new buggies.
- Our ball team crossed bats with Media's Star team at the home grounds on Friday and won the game from the visitors with great ease, the score being 28 to 9. Ed Bowen pitched a most excellent game and Frank Myers did a good work behind the bat. "Tanner" Rhea of La Harpe played shortstop for our boys.
- The Epworth League will give a lawn social in the yard of C. R. Gittings Friday night, July 13. Ice Cream will be served.
