Banister Crews and Wife to Edward Schwartz, Deed. Report of Board.
State of Illinois, Jackson County} The undersigned members of the Board of
Investigation for Jackson County appointed by an Act entitled "An act to repair
the damage occasioned by the destruction of the records and public documents of
Jackson County" approved February 1, 1843, Report that satisfactory evidence has
been adduced before the Board showing that some time in the Spring of the year
1842 Banister Crews and Frances his wife for the consideration of $55.00 to them
paid made executed and delivered to Edward Schwartz a Warrantee deed for the
North West quarter of the North East quarter of Section No. Eight in Township
No. Seven South of Range One West. Which said deed was duly acknowledged and not
long after the execution thereof was left with the Recorder of Jackson County
for record, was duly recorded and not being taken from the Office was consumed
with the records thereof on the night of the 10th of Jany.
1843.
Witness our hands and seals at our office in Brownsville this 15th day of
January A.D. 1844.

Deed
This Indenture made this Eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and twenty-six between Isaac Glenn of Jackson county
State of Illinois and Nancy his wife of the first part and Sally Parks of the
Same county and State of the second part Witnesseth that the said party of the
first part to wit the said Isaac and Nancy Glenn for and in consideration of the
sum of fifty dollars lawful money of the United states to them in hand paid at
and before the sealing of these presents by the said party of the Second Part to
Wit the said Sally Parks the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and
acknowledged and the Said party of the second part
there from forever discharged and acquitted have given granted bargained and
sold alien [_________] released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do
give grant bargain and sale alien [________] convey and confirm unto the said
party of the Second Part her heirs and assigns forever all their right title and
claim of in and to a certain piece and parcel of land Situate
lying and being in the County of Jackson and State of Illinois and designated
and described as follows to wit It being the one equal Six undivided part of the
South West quarter of Section Number Nine in Township number Nine south and of
Range Number three West of the third principle Meridian Line of the United
States Surveys. It being the Same which was entered by Robert Glenn in the
Registers office at Kaskaskia which will appear by referring to the Records of
the said Office and which at the death of the said Robert descended to the heirs
of the said Robert Glenn Six in number of which the said Isaac is one and the
said number of heirs of the Estate of the Said Robert more or less this deed is
meant and intended to convey to the said Party of the Second part all the title
the said Party of the first part have to the said quarter Section of Land as
heirs of the said Robert Glenn. To have and to hold the above described and
hereby granted and bargained premises with all and singular the privileges and
appurtenances thereunto belonging on in any___ appertaining unto the said Party
of the Second part her heirs and assigns to her and to their only proper use
benefit and beh__f forever And the said Party of the first part for themselves
their heirs Executors and Administrators do hereby promise covenant and agree to
and with the said party of the second Part her heirs executors administrators
and assigns that before the Sealing and delivery of these presents they were the
lawful owners of the Premises hereby conveyed and had full power to sell and
convey the same as they have in this deed done and further that they will
forever defend the title to the same and every part thereof against the claim or
claims of any person or persons whomsoever who now claim the same firmly by the
same legally of present testimony of which the said party of the first part do
hereunto set their hands and affix their seals the day and year above written

Jackson County On this day the within Named Isaac Glenn and Nancy the wife of
the said Isaac came before me the undersigned and acting Justice of the Peace in
and for Jackson County State of Illinois and acknowledged that they executed the
foregoing instrument of conveyance as their free act and deed for the purposes
therein expressed Nancy the wife of the said Isaac being by
me first examined separate and apart from her said husband she declared that of
her own free will and accord she signed sealed and delivered the foregoing deed
for the purposes therein expressed ( the same being by me made known unto her )
and said that she did the same without any coercion or compulsion of her said
husband and without any fear of his displeasure - Given under My hand and seal
this Eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred
and twenty-six.

This indenture made and entered into this Eleventh day of January in year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and seventy six by and between William H. Davis and Elizabeth Davis his wife of the County of Jackson and State of Illinois, parties of the first part and Ruben R. Rees, Henry C. Bowlby, and William H. Davis as Trustees of Somerset Grange, number one Thousand, five hundred and fifty three an organization for the promotion of husbandry of the county and state aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part in the consideration of one Dollar to them in hand, paid and upon the conditions and specifications and for the uses and purposes here in after mentioned declare and set forth, have granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said party of the second part in their capacity of Trustees o the said organization as aforesaid and to their successors in said capacity the following described land to wit, one square acre of land out of the southwest corner of the southwest quarter of section fifteen (15) township eight (8) South Range Two (2) West of the third principal meridian in Jackson County, Illinois.
The conditions upon which and the purposes for which this conveyance is made are the following that is to say that the said parties of the second part or their successors as soon as reasonable maybe, shall and do erect or cause to be erected a good substantial and comfortable frame building of the size and dimensions, twenty four feet in width by forty feet in length and two stories in height with a commodious and substantial stairway or other means of access from the lower to the upper story, the lower story of which building designed shall be used as a place of religious worship in the manner following: On the first Sabbath of each and every month by the religious sect or denomination known as Lutherans, on the second Sabbath of each and every month by the Sect or denomination known as Methodist, on the third Sabbath of each and every month by the sect or denomination known as Baptist and on the fourth Sabbath of each and every Month by the sect or denomination known as Presbyterians and for Sabbath school purposes at such time as may be most suitable and convenient so as to avoid interference of the use of the said room by persons or organizations above named and that or upon such other time or day's as the said room of said building may not be occupied in the manner afore mentioned. it may be used by religious sect or denomination so as no hindrance or interference be occasioned by one such sect or religious denomination to another.
The second story is designed may, and shall be, used by the said organization above named known as Somerset Grange number one thousand, five hundred and fifty three, To have and to hold the said premises and land with the appurtenances there unto belonging unto the said parties of the second part and their successors upon the conditions and for the uses and purposes above set forth forever, otherwise to revert and the said William H. Davis, Elizabeth Davis, his wife, parties of the first part, hereby expressly waive release and relinquish unto the said parties of the second part, their successors all right title claim interest and benefit whatever in and to the above described premises, and each and every part thereof which is given by or results from all laws of this state pertaining to the exemptions of homesteads, and the said William H. Davis and Elizabeth Davis his wife, parties of the first part for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators to covenant, grant, bargain and agree to and with the said parties of the second part, their successors that at the time of the ensealing and delivery of these presents, they are well seized absolute and indefensible estate of inheritance in law and fee simple and have good right, full power and lawful authority to grant, bargain, sell and convey the same in manner and form aforesaid and that the same is free and clear from all former and other grants, bargain, sales, deeds, taxes assessments and encumbrances of what kind or nature soever and the above bargained premises and the quiet and peaceable possession of the said parties of the second part and their successors against all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the whole or any part thereof, the said parties of the first part shall and will warrant and defend forever, in testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seal this day and year first above written.

Davis and Elizabeth Davis, his wife, personally known to me to be the same persons whose names are signed to the foregoing Deed, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged that they signed, sealed and delivered the same as their free and voluntary act for the uses and purposes therein expressed and set forth including the release and waiver of the right of homestead.
