Maxine Holland

Du Quoin----the funeral for Maxine Holland, 80, of 109 S Division St., Du Quoin, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Neal memorial Chapel in Du Quoin with  burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Du Quoin. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of service.


   Mrs. Holland died Thursday, August 01 1985 in Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
   She was a retired cook who had worked in restaurants in Du Quoin. She was a member of the Hope Rebekah Lodge 24 Du Quoin, where she served as a Past Noble Grand; the Royal Neighbors, an honorary member of the Du Quoin Senior Citizens and a member of the First Babtist Church in Du Quoin, where she was a member of the Amoma Sunday school class.
   Mrs. Holland was one of the founders  of the Du Quoin Parent and Teachers Association.

   She was born Feb 22, 1905, in Murphysboro, to Charley and Mary Jane Underwood Williams.
  She married James Eddie Holland b. Lewisport Ky, Sept.15 1923 in Murphysboro. He died Dec 02, 1972 in Murphysboro, Il.

   Survivors include 4 daughters; Verna Porter, Murphysboro, Janetta Eisenhauer, Elaine Smith, Ruby Crain, all of Du Quoin. 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth, and 3 brothers; Johnny, Raymond, Charley "Bus" Williams.
