Jackson County, Illinois
Hall Cemetery

This cemetery has since been reconstructed by Lois Baker & Juergen Hempel as of 16 Jan 2008.
The land where the Hall Cemetery is located was originally purchased by James Hall in 1814 from the US Government. Phineas Hall officially designated the land for a cemetery in 1873. Upon request of some black families, permission was given to bury their dead at the bottom of the hill on which the Hall cemetery was located. All these stones have been moved to the Holliday Cemetery in hopes of preserving them as the Hall Cemetery was almost destroyed.
This cemetery listing was 1st donated to Illinois Trails by Jinks Pate Lee whose was a partial listing in red. All persons listed in red also on Lois Baker list.
