Louise Marie
Kessel, 87, of Rocky Mount, VA., formerly of Ava, died at
4:05 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008, in Forest Mountain Rest
Home in Rocky Mount.
Services will
be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava,
with Father Leo Hayes officiating. Burial will be in
Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8
p.m. today and from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the
funeral home.
Memorials may
be made to the Alzheimer Association.
Mrs. Kessel
had retired after 40 years of teaching in the Swanwick and
Trico school districts.
She was a
member of the Catholic Church, and a life member of the
National Education Association.
She was born
July 28, 1920, in Modoc, to Henry and Theresia Will Schading.
She married Enos W. Kessel on Dec. 6, 1939, in Perryville,
Mo. He preceded her in death May 6, 1988.
She is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law David E. and Barbara
Kessel Sr. of Boones Hill, Va.; three grandchildren and
their spouses, Michele and Tim Mason, David E. Kessel, Jr.
and Samantha Kessel; one great-granddaughter and her
husband, Brianna and Nick Fellner; and one sister, Pearl
Hanley of St. Louis.
She was
preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
