Darrell R. "Jerry" Wright

WRIGHT, Darrell R. "Jerry" - Of Flint, age 93, died Sunday, March 8, 1998 at McLaren Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 1998 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Robert L. Dickie, II officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wright was born in Makanda, Illinois on October 15, 1904 and was a resident of Flint most of his life. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge #434 in Illinois and a member of UAW Local 659. He was a school crossing guard for the Flint Public Schools for 18 years. Mr. Wright was employed at Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant for 32 years, retiring in 1968.

Surviving are step-daughter, LaDonna and husband John D. Robinson, Sr. of Millington; step-daughter-in-law, Berneda Fowley of Flint; 3 grandchildren, Karen, John, Jr. and Audra; 3 great-grandchildren, Patrice, Johnathan and Hannah; brother, Charles and wife Velma of Sparta, Illinois; sister-in-law, Lee Bearess of Flint; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal; second wife, Pearl; step-son, Robert Fowley and brother, Floyd. Those desiring, may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
