Alpha Marie Gentles

Alpha Marie Gentles, 70, of Route 2, Mt.Vernon, died 5:15 a.m. July 29, 1994 at her home. 
She was born March 18, 1924, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of Ralph and Margaret Julia [Barva] 
Melton. she married Albert "Red" Gentles on Feb. 11, 1944, in Morganfield, KY.; he survives. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Melvin Vandeloo 
officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery. 
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home. Rosary services will be 7p.m. 
Sunday at the funeral home.

In addition to her husband, survivors include four sons, Ralph gentles of Mt. Vernon; 
David Gentles of Mt. Vernon; Charles Gentles of Fairfield and Todd Gentles and wife Lisa 
of Dix.; two daughters, Mary Spiller and husband Rick of Mt.Vernon and Ann Warren of 
Port Orange, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her mother, Margaret Julia 
Melton of Mt.Vernon and a brother, Lawrence B. "Bennie" Melton and wife Hazel of Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Gentles was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer. 
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Bernadine Davis.
