"Butter Famine"
Jerseyville Supplied 3,000 Pounds Daily - Entirely Out First Time in 18 Years Account of Drought
Jerseyville, Ill., July 18 - Jerseyville which has ben supplying the market with 3,000 pounds of butter each week has a butter famine. Not a pound was placed on the market today a condition which has not occured in eighteen years. Dry weather caused the butter famine.

Barn Struck by Lightning - On Monday of last week, the barn of Mr. Silas Bates, in Jersey County, four miles from Jerseyville, was struck by lightning and burnt. A large quantity of hay, corn, harness and four horses were lost.
