In 1874, Mr. John H. Pooley moved to Galena from Scales Mound Township, Jo Daviess County, Illinois. In May of 1875, he bought the photograph gallery of William Barner. In June of 1876, Mr. Polley closed his gallery and joined Mr. Edward W. Peirce at his gallery on Main Street. Later that year, Peirce sold out to Pooley. Mr. Pooley continued the business until 1878 when he was joined by Mr. McGrath ; this partnership continuing for most of that year. Early in 1890, Pooley sold out to William F. Scheerer.
