Jessie Tucker of Rush was in town Monday.
A car of potatoes was received from Chicago Monday morning by M. L. Jefford's. They are of the finest quality and retail at a dollar a bushel in quantities less than five bushels.
J. L. Hartsough went to Chicago this evening with a car of stock shipped by Sherm Stevens.
Chas. Stanton of Loveland, Col., arrived here from Chicago this morning.
Crotzer Bros. of Galena have been canvassing the town for a map which is to be issued in a short time.
Rev. Chas. Clay preached an interesting sermon in the M. E. church Sunday morning.
Mr. H. H. Diggs has received the sad news of the death of his siter, Mrs. Norman, at Winchester, Ind.
John Heindel of Warren was in town Monday night.
H. H. Diggs was in Lena Friday.
There are a few cases of chicken-pox in town, but none serious.
Mrs. Quinn, of Lena, returned home Friday morning.
Mrs. Holmes, who has been spending several days in Amboy, came home Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Anson Kelly returned from Chicago last week.
R. M. Wilson has been very sick for the last week, but at present we are happy to say that he is improving.
A club dance was held at the hall last Friday night.
John Douglas returned from Chicago last Friday.
Several persons went to Chelsea last Monday to attend the funeral of Miss Mary Arnold.
Bert Waddington, of Dubuque, is visiting friends and relatives here. Anson Kelly went to Lena Friday.
Miss Barnes, of Wadams (Waddams) Grove, was calling in town Saturday.
John Snyder, a resident of this vicinity, while repairing pumps in the village, was taken very ill and died in a short time of typhoid fever.
Miss Dean, of Warren has been spending a few days in Nora.
The revivals will continue through this week.
The Apple River drum corps has disbanded for a season. During the past ampaign they furnished considerable music. Their absence is felt, especially by those who resided near the band room. All persons owing the same will please address J. C. L__amy, secretary, of Walter Kevern, bass drummer.
Patsy Foley has arrived home from the wild and wooly west. He intends spending the winter at home.
The initial meeting of the high school literary society was held in the high school building Friday night last. The following are the officers: Prof. Stevens, president; Effie Deming, secretary. A good program was given. All persons interested are invited to attend the next meetings.
The stockholders of the mill held a meeting Dec. 8, and chose W. C. White treasurer, and Jas. Charlton, Thos. Bonjour, Art Watson and Mr. Puckett were among the directors chosen. They chose a committee to see to the moving of the mill as early as possible. They expect to have everything in running order by spring.
Mr. Nattrass, son-in-law of Squire Farnham, arrived home from the west last week. He has not been home for a number of years.

Mrs. B. F. Tilton, a highly esteemed lady of Nora, passed her seventy-fifth year of life Friday, Jan. 27, 1893. The Mesdames D. J. Keely, J. C. Parks, H. M. Bourne and daughter, and C. A. Douglas spent the day with her in commemoration of the event.
