Mrs. Milton Willams & Daughter, Mrs. S.A. Townsend of Scales Mound, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cross, James Millwright of Rockford, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Tear and son Thomas of Galena, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Hicks of Savanna were among those from a distance who attended the funeral of
Frank Hicks Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. George Huett and son Nate of Rockford, came Monday to spend the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gundry
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hicks moved to their new home on West Main street, formerly the Seise home. George Zoeller will occupy the former Hicks home.
The One Day Together Club met recently at the home of Mrs. Emma Leverington
Harold Townsend of Shaker Heights Ohio was here over Decoration Day with his mother Mrs. Grace Townsend.
Mrs. William Decock of Escanaba Mich. is visiting at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gundry and with her other relatives
Mrs. Grace Townsend will entertain her bridge club Thursday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gundry and Mrs. Grace Halsted were Freeport visitors Tuesday.
On Monday Harold Townsend and Leo Eatman went to Champaign where Harold will visit for a few days and Leo began his senior year at the University.
Friends and relatives here will be interested to hear that Judge and Mrs. Melvin Gundry of Galena are the parents of a son, born Friday in Dubuque Iowa
The annual banquet and ball of the Warren Fire Dept. was held Thursday evening. A delicious 3-course banquet was served to about 80 by the Ladies Aid of St. Ann's church. The fire chief, Edward Steimle served as toastmaster. He called on the new Mayor Austin Burrows who expressed his willingness to co-operate with the fire department.
Judge and Mrs. Melvin Gundry have purchased the William Fiddick home on High Street. They expect to move into their new home about the first of November.
The newly organized Warren Gun Club elected the following officers for the year. President - Glen Gale; vice-president, Carl Burman; secretary, Edward Steimle; treasurer, Franklin Boone.
The annual election of the Warren Fire Dept. was held recently with the following being elected: Chief - Edward Steimle; assistant chief - Milton Beecher; foreman- John S. Toay; assistant foreman - Glen Gale; secretary - Harold Enright; treasurer - Lloyd Zeigle. The trustees appointed by the chief are Homer Cashman, Clyde Franke and James Bourquin.
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Hicks of Cordova visited relatives Sunday
Mrs. Grace Townsend and son Harold returned home after spending some time in California.
