The marriage of Miss Christina Schwirtz, well known in Savanna, and a sister of Mrs. J. J.Campbell, occurred in Galena, Illinois on Wednesday, September 11, 1901 at 8:00 p.m.. the groom being George N. Jeffers of Hanover, also well known here. The marriage was performed by Rev. J. Wright, and was private only a few friends being present. Rev. J. W. Wright asked that pleasant-feature divine pronounce the words that would convey to them the sacred right to address each other as husband and wife. On finding that the handsome young couple were armed with the necessary credentials, Dr. Wright proceeded to comply with their request, using his beautiful ring ceremony. The young couple had no attendants other than a few friends to witness the contract. After the marriage rite was over, the bridal party repaired to the Hotel Grant where a delicious supper awaited them and which was served at 9:00 p.m. The groom is a son of Mr. George Jeffers, that well-known and much respected Hanover merchant, and is a young man of pleasing appearance, good address, superior intellectual ability and irreproachable character. He is a student of medicine and is a member of the senior class of a Chicago medical school. His bride is a charming young lady and is spoken of by Bellevue, Iowa residents as a popular favorite in society circles in that city. They took their departure for Hanover this afternoon where they will spend a week after which they will take up their residence in Chicago. Savanna friends will unite in extending best wishes.
