, age 61, of Mount Carroll, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at home with her family at her side. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Father Moises Apostol of SS. John & Catherine Catholic Church in Mt. Carroll will officiate. Burial will take place in Schapville Zion Presbyterian Cemetery, Schapville, Illinois. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in Bonnie’s memory. Bonnie was born January 8, 1944 in Hanover, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Lois (Stadel) Wills. She graduated from Elizabeth High School, Elizabeth, Illinois Class of 1960. Bonnie married Alfonso Cantu in Elizabeth, Illinois. From this union came three sons. Bonnie enjoyed being a housewife and mother. The love for her children continued on to her grandchildren, who brought great joy to her life. Bonnie had fun playing board games with the grandchildren. She loved life and all it had to offer. Bonnie will be deeply missed by her husband, Alfonso; her three sons, Dino (Sandy) Cantu of Muncie, Indiana, Dion (Leanne) Cantu of St. Louis, Missouri and Dana (Mary) Cantu of Corpus Christi, Texas; six grandchildren, Derek, Shannan, Dylan, Drake, Deanna, and Dalton; two sisters, Sandra Wilkinson of Mt. Carroll and Dixie L. Gayton of Rockford, Illinois; one brother, Wayne(Fran) Wills of Hanover, Illinois. Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Harold Wills; her mother, Lois Wills; one sister, Beverly Forrest, and one daughter, Dru Alexis Cantu; one brother in-law, Gordon Wilkinson.
RUTH (COSTELLO) CHUMBLER
, 79, Elizabeth, Ill., died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Freeport Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Freeport, Ill.
She was born on June 22, 1928 in Grand Mound, Iowa, the daughter of William J. and Cecelia (McMahon) Costello. She married Lynn Chumbler on March 29, 1948 in Elizabeth. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1976.
She graduated from Freeport High School and farmed with her husband, ran Chumbler's Doggie Motel, on their farm near Woodbine, and worked as a nurse for Morgan Nursing Home in Stockton, Ill., for 41 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elizabeth, and loved to paint and show her art work in Galena, Ill., galleries. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Claudia) Chumbler, Freeport, and Larry (Jean) Chumbler, Pocatello, Idaho; four grandsons, Chris (Shera), Jason, Robert (Michelle), and Blake; four great-granddaughters, Abby, Tyler, Jasmine and Kirsten; six great-grandsons, Evan, Austin, Ayden, Brenton, Brett and Daylon; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kuntz, Freeport; and a special niece, Sharon Shaw, Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lynn; two brothers; three sisters; and three daughters, prior to birth.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 31 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth.
Services will be held at 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Elizabeth, with the Rev. Noel Jacob officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Elizabeth.

MARLENE MARY (UHL) CHUNES
, age 67, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died suddenly on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa, after a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009, at the Church of St. Mary in Elizabeth followed by a burial service at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses and donations for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
Marlene was born a twin on April 12, 1942, in Farley, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Verena “Pat” (George) Uhl. She graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1960 and started her work career. She worked as a waitress and legal secretary before starting her employment as a credit adjustor, a position she loved and worked at until her retirement in 2002. She married Tony Chunes on March 31, 1990, in Blessed Sacrament Church in Springfield, Illinois.
Marlene was a fun loving, people person who lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed dancing and traveling to new places. She spent hours with her sister and husband playing cards and dominos and watching her beloved Yankees. Marlene was also an avid Snoopy collector.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 19 years, Tony Chunes of Elizabeth, Illinois; one son, Allen (Lisa) Eichmeier of Fountain, Michigan, by a previous marriage; two grandchildren, Brandon and Stephanie; one brother, William (Gayle) Uhl of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Marilyn (the late Kenneth) Berlage of Elizabeth, Trish (Randy) Krohmer of Evergreen Park, Illinois, and Mary (Scott) Lafferty of Wilmette, Illinois; one sister – in – law, Susan (Mike) Moser; three stepsons, Brett Chunes, Greg Chunes, and Jeff Chunes, all of Springfield, Illinois; her mother, Pat Uhl of Elizabeth; her mother – in – law, Lela Chunes of Springfield; and several nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Marlene was preceded in death by her father, Edward Uhl; two brothers, Robert and Thomas; and one brother – in – law, Kenneth Berlage.

MRS. COOK
, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bradshaw, of old age Sunday, Feb. 19. Deceased was born in Yorkshire, England, 83 years ago. She was the mother of twelve children, seven boys and five girls, eleven of whom live to mourn her loss. christopher, the oldest, is a minister at Belmont, Mrs. Thos. Hail of this village (Apple River) is a daughter of deceased. The funeral was held at the residence after which the remains were taken to the Highland cemetery.

CHARLOTTE E. (FOWLER) COOK
, 89, Galena, Ill., died at 8:15 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community in Galena. She was born on Jan. 28, 1919 in Galena, the daughter of Thomas and Amanda (Wieters) Fowler. She married Dale W. Cook on Jan. 28, 1945. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1981. She enjoyed working with crafts, shopping and was a terrific baker. Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie (Dick) Ennis, East Dubuque, and Carol (Jim) Leifker, Brighton, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; one son, Jerry Cook in February of 2001; and three brothers, LaVerne Fowler, Wayne Geiger and baby Clifford Geiger; and three sisters, Alta Mae Manley, Marian Temperly and Shirley Hammer.
Visitation will be held from 8:00-9:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29 at the Miller and Steinkie Funeral Home in Galena. Services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Miller and Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, with the Rev. Phillip Brown officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Galena. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community and to Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care given to their mother.

, age 67, of Hanover, Illinois, died on Friday, March 14, 2008, at Midwest Medical Center, Galena, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. Reverend Ken Matthews of the United Methodist Church in Hanover will officiate. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, Dubuque, Iowa. Military rites will be accorded. A Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the funeral home in Hanover. A Memorial Fund has been established in Mike's memory. Mike was born on December 5, 1940, the son of Roy and Jessie (Franklin) Cook, in southern Illinois. He attended high school in Edgemont, South Dakota, graduating with the Class of 1959. Upon graduation from high school, Mike served his country in the United States Navy for eight years and continued to serve in the Naval Reserves until 1976. Mike married Rita Starr on February 20, 1983, in Hanover. Mike worked in communications for the Savanna Army Depot until retiring in 1993. He served on the Hanover Zoning Board and was a member of the Hanover Fire Department for forty years. Mike was a lifetime member of the Hanover Veteran's of Foreign War and the National Rifle Association. Mike enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially whitetail deer. He also enjoyed playing euchre, taking pictures and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Cardinal fan. Most of all, Mike loved spending time with his family and friends. Mike is survived by his wife, Rita, of Hanover; four step-sons, Rod (Laura) Diestelmeier of Wister, Oklahoma, Rick (Connie) Diestelmeier of Savanna, Illinois, Raymie (Tracy) Diestelmeier of Elizabeth, Illinois, and Robin (Deb) Diestelmeier of Savanna; two step-daughters, Roxann Schultz of Lena, Illinois, Renee Hastings of Stockton, Illinois; eighteen step-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Don (Teody) Cook of Seoul, Korea; mother-in-law, Golda Starr of Stockton; brother-in-law, Keith (Carole) Starr of Stockton; eight
nieces and one nephew. Mike is preceded in death by his parents.

, age 90, of Hanover, Illinois, died Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center of Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2005 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover, Illinois. Father Christopher Kuhn of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover, with Full Military Rites. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13 at the Funeral Home. Kenneth was born on October 27, 1915, the son of Clarence and Edna (Glascock) Cooper in Thomson, Illinois. He graduated from Thomson High School, Thomson, Illinois, with the Class of 1933. Kenneth married Mildred Dean in Paris, Texas on October 12, 1943. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Kenneth worked for thirty-six years at the Savanna Army Depot. He retired as Supervisor in the Special Weapons Division. Kenneth loved and enjoyed his family; he had fun times watching the Chicago Cub’s baseball; the Chicago Bear’s football and the San Francisco 49rs.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Mildred of Hanover; his son Albert “Jake” Cooper and daughter in-law Luba of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Scott Cooper of Omaha, Nebraska, Chris Cooper of Oakland, California and Valerie Cooper of Lincoln, Nebraska; and one brother, Raymond Cooper of Savanna, Illinois. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Yates.
