AMELIA RANDECKER
, 84, of Stockton died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Morgan Memorial Home in Stockton. She was born Aug. 26, 1926, the daughter of John and Lydia (Wurster) Randecker. Millie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Stockton.
She farmed all of her life and sold eggs. She also enjoyed gardening and taking care of her animals. Millie is survived by her daughter, Jean (Scott) Hill of Stockton; and her grandson Wyatt Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Christ Lutheran Church in Stockton with the Rev. Susan Davenport presiding.
There will be a one-hour visitation before the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Arrangements were made by Hermann Funeral Home.
HAROLD F. RANDECKER
, of Stockton, a member of Derinda Trinity Lutheran Church, died this morning in Freeport Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He had lived 20 years in Stockton. Born July 5, 1930 in Derinda Township, Jo Daviess County, he was the son of Frank and Elsie (Randecker) Randecker. He married Donna Schultz November 11, 1951 in Galena.
Surviving are his widow; five daughters, Misses Kathleen, Glenda, and Juanita, all of Freeport, and Cheryl and Alecia, at home; his mother of Elizabeth; and three sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Dorothy) Haas of Savanna, and Mrs. Donald (Luella) Thoren and Mrs. James (JoAnn) Carver, both of Elizabeth. His father and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Derinda Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard Burrack, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church here, will officiate. Burial will be in the Derinda church cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hermann Funeral Home here. A memorial fund has been established.
JOHN RANDECKER
, rural Stockton, died t 11:15 p.m. Monday, April 17, 1967 in Freeport Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for two and a half days. Randecker was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Stockton.
He was born October 8, 1882 in Pleasant Valley Township, the son of John and Christiana Randecker. On February 15, 1917 he married the former Lydia Wurster in Derinda. She died February 5, 1957. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Amelia Randecker of Stockton, and a brother, Jacob of Downey. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be in Christ Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. Harold Norheim, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Ladies Union Cemetery. Friends may call at Hermann Funeral Home, Stockton, after noon Wednesday until noon Thursday, and then at the church.
FUNSTON READ
- Funeral services of James Funston Read, implement dealer here, who passed away Saturday, March 27, 1937 in a Freeport hospital following an illness of about one month, were held at 2 o’clock this afternoon in the Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. E. Lester Stanton officiated and burial was made in the Lena Cemetery.
Mr. Read was born in Elizabeth Township, Jo Daviess County, May 30, 1864, the son of James A. and Anna (Funston) Read. He was united in marriage in 1892 to Miss Nellie McCall. They resided on farms in Jo Daviess and Carroll Counties. Two sons were born to this union. Mrs. Read and the two sons passed away some years ago. On April 30, 1902, Mr. Read was united in marriage with Miss Jennie Buck at Zion, Illinois. (Alice Horner’s note: This Zion is in Woodland Township, Carroll County, Illinois) The family lived on a farm in Carroll County, moving to Elizabeth in 1911. There Mr. Read entered the farm implement business, and in 1920 he moved to Lena where he has since been engaged in the implement business.
He was a member of Lena blue lodge, A. F. & A. M., Stockton chapter, R. A. M., Freeport Commandery No. 7 Knights Templar, Freeport Consistory, and Co-ordinate bodies, and Tebala Shrine at Rockford. He was a member of the Lena Methodist Episcopal church.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Miss Margaret Read of Lena; three brothers, George Read of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Wesley and Robert Read, both of Elizabeth; and one sister, Mrs. Henry Jones of Elliott, Illinois.
JENNIE (BUCK) READ
, 87, died at 12:05 a.m. today in her home following a brief illness. The former Jennie Buck was born in Woodland Township, Carroll County, March 12, 1868, the daughter of Frederick and Louisa (Johns) Buck. On April 30, 1902 she was married to James F. Read, who preceded her in death March 27, 1937. She lived here for the past 20 years. Her only survivor is a daughter, Mrs. Elton (Margaret) Barnes, with whom she has lived for the past 10 years.
Funeral service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Leamon Funeral Home. The Rev. George W. Martin, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Lena Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
M. MAXINE REED
, age 85, of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Bloomfield Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. She was born in South Dakota on Oct. 25, 1918. She graduated from Shullsburg High School, Maxine married T. Norman Reed in 1948, and moved to Mineral Point. She worked as a bookkeeper for M.A. Mewis Accounting for more than 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved animals of all kinds. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Mineral Point. Maxine is survived by two granddaughters, Lori Reed of Green Bay, and Carrie (Eric) Marlow of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Reed; and a daughter, Janice Ferrell. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME, Mineral Point. Burial will be in Scales Mound Township Cemetery, in Illinois.
JOHNIE A. REUSCH
, age 84, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Sunday, December 21, 2008, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, with Reverend Harvey Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Hanover, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 3 – 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth.
Johnie was born June 29, 1924, in Elizabeth, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Claire (Haring) Reusch. He was united in marriage to Lucille A. Geiger on April 19, 1951, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Derinda, Illinois. Lucille preceded him in death on July 24, 1998.
Johnie farmed at Derinda Center with Lucille on the family farm until 1975, and then did custom farming. Johnie also worked at the Eagle Ridge Resort at the Galena Territory. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. Johnie enjoyed deer hunting, playing euchre, and visiting with his friends.
Johnie is survived and lovingly remembered by one son, Bill (Theresa) Reusch of Roscoe, Illinois; two grandsons, Brian and Kevin Reusch; one sister, Betty Beyer of Stockton, Illinois; and one brother in-law, William Joseph Geiger of Hanover, Illinois.
Johnie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucille Reusch; three brothers in-law, Alfred Geiger, Edward McCoy, and Ray Beyer; and one sister in-law, Marie McCoy. Memorials may be given to a local charity of choice in Johnie’s memory.
MIRON J. ROBERTS
, 92 of Woodbine, Illinois and formerly of Glenview, Illinois, died Friday, August 17, 2007, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth, Illinois. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday August 24, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor Jeremy Yowell of the Grace Bible Church of Woodbine, Illinois will officiate. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Woodbine, Illinois.
Miron was born January 19, 1915, in Woodbine, Illinois the son of George and Theresa (Schreck) Roberts. He attended Elizabeth High School and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He met and married his wife Lorraine Rosentreter on September 7, 1940 in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. Lorraine was at that time a High School English Teacher. She passed away June 18, 1995.
Miron and Lorraine had four children: Ken, Mary, Donald and Richard. Miron started work at Kraft Foods in Stockton, Illinois. Kraft Foods took Miron and his family to live and work in many places (Chicago; Pocatello, Idaho; Knightstown, Indiana; and finally Glenview, Illinois). Each of his children were born at one of these locations. Miron worked for Kraft Foods for over 38 years and holds a patent in cheese for Kraft Foods, which he received in 1972. He retired from Kraft Foods in 1976 and came back to live in his hometown of Woodbine.
Miron loved working with the Boy Scouts and was a Merit Badge Counselor but he concentrated on two of his many favorite loves in life…fishing and gardening.
Miron is survived by two sons: Donald (Sandra) of Palatine, Illinois, and Richard (Pamela) of Glenview, Illinois. nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Miron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorraine, his son Ken, his daughter Mary (Jon) Cordes, and two brothers, Clyde and Merle.
MARY ROTH
- Funeral services for Mary Roth, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Roth, were held Friday morning in the Furlong Chapel home, Rev. J.T. donohue officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery. She was born in Mercy hospital Dubuque IA on Monday and died Thursday morning. esides her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Magdalen, Marian and Virginia and a brother, Robert; her grandparents, Charles Weydert of Galena and Mr. and Mrs. Val Roth, of East Dubuque
