Marion, a native of Galena, came to live on this farm when she married farmer Raymond Heer. Shortly after the birth of her only child, Martha, Marion was pressed into service to teach in this school when it was located at Derinda Center, one-half mile north of this location. Marion, a gifted and beloved teacheer, grew to love the Derinda Township Community and the Heer family farm where she spent all her adult years.

It is, therefore, fitting that this school now rests on her farm and that it be formally dedicated this 15th day of August, 2000, in the presence of all who make its restoration possible.
