Afton Mighell
Afton (Hall) Mighell was born Oct. 7, 1907, and died at the home of
her parents, February 10 (noon) 1930, age 22 years, 4 months, 4 days.
Afton was the youngest daughter of Richard and Martha Hall and who with
two sisters, Mrs. Glenna Rhumfelt of Dover, Tenn., and Mrs. Bertha
Bradley of Goreville, Ill., and one brother Gene at home composed the
home family. Her passing forms the first broken link in this good
family.
She
was united in marriage to Hugh Mighell April 9, 1927, and to this union
one little daughter, Lodema Marie, was born, her age being eleven months
and who with her father survive.
Afton was converted to Christ in 1924, and later united with Mt. Zion
Baptist church, where she continued a faithful member for the remaining
time of her short life. Her presence will be sadly missed by her church
and Sunday School associates, as she was always to be found in her place
there, and was always ready in the song service and other functions of
the church.
It
is a different matter for us, the living to understand why one so young
and useful, a good wife and fond mother with the loving care of a little
infant in her hands, should be taken away just at this time. But a just
God in His infinite wisdom has seen fit to transplant her out of this
life of sickness, sorrow and death and place her in that land of bliss,
happiness and eternal sunshine where there are no sorrows and death and
we humbly bow to His decree.
So,
Afton, with your farewell words, “Meet me in heaven,” ringing in our
ears, we will say goodbye, until we meet again.
