Augustus J. Robertson Augustus Jefferson “Gus” Robertson Age: 95 years A resident of Paxton, IL and a former resident of Metropolis, IL. Passed away Monday morning, July 17, 2006, at 6:00 AM at the Illinois Knights Templar Home for the Aged in Paxton, IL. Born: April 23, 1911 in the Elvira Township of Johnson County, IL. He was the son of Robert Lee Robertson & Effie Agnes (Rowe) Robertson. Gus was united in marriage to Vivian Lee Whittenberg on May 23, 1936 in Benton, IL. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1979. Gus is survived by his loving daughter Barbara Robertson of Paxton, IL In addition to his Parents & Wife, Gus was preceded in death by: 2 Sisters: Violet Merriman & Mabel Kauder; a Brother: John William Robertson and an Infant Brother. Gus was a retired cattleman and farmer. As long as his health permitted, Gus was a devoted and active member of the Masonic fraternity. His membership was with New Columbia Masonic Lodge # 336 AF&AM and he often visited lodges throughout southern Illinois. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning, July 20, 2006, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Jim Shipley will officiate. Interment will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 PM – 8 PM Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday under the auspices of New Columbia Masonic Lodge # 336 AF&AM.
