Betty Grant

Betty Grant, daughter of James Dillow & Clyde (Harris) Dillow, was born December 21, 1939 in Union County, Illinois.


She departed this life Wednesday morning, August 9, 2006 at 2 AM at the Helia Health Care Center in Energy, IL. At the time of her passing, Betty had attained the age of 66 years 7 months & 19 days.


Betty was united in marriage to Robert Rudy Grant on April 4, 1963 in Benton, IL. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1977.


Survivors include: 2 Sons – Johnny Wayne Grant & his wife Carla, of Vienna, IL, Lloyd Mitchell Grant & his wife Keri, Murphysboro, IL; A Daughter – Carla Christine Averitt & her husband Gene, of Vienna, IL; 6 Grandchildren – Steven Alan Schultz, Ashley Nicole Schultz, Chasity Christine Schultz, James Robert Allen Averitt, Dyzon Shane Grant & Kaysha Bennett; 2 Sisters – Mary Lane of Dongola, IL & Alma Osterholm of Anna, IL; 3 Brothers – Jim Dillow of Anna, IL, Kenneth Dillow of Anna, IL & Bill Dillow of Anna, IL; Several Nieces & Nephews.


In addition to her Parents & Husband, Betty was preceded in death by: Her Foster Parents – Lloyd & Stella Harris; a Sister – Juanita Freeman.
Betty had been employed as a waitress and kitchen staff worker at the Bob White Café. Later, she worked as a custodian at the Vienna Post Office, John De Chevrolet and for Jon Simmons.


Betty was a member of the Vienna First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, bicycling, and fishing. Betty was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed “food fights.”


Betty is now happy at home in Heaven with her beloved husband Rudy.
Betty leaves her family & friends to cherish her memory.


Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, August 12, 2006 at 11 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL.
Brother Richard Swiney will officiate.
Burial will be in the Kerley Cemetery near Grantsburg, IL. Friends may call from 6 PM – 8 PM Friday evening at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL.
Memorials are suggested to the Kerley Cemetery, c/o Donnie Morris, R.R. 1 Box 276, Simpson, IL.
